SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Bradley L. "Brad" Phegley, who passed
4away on December 6, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was born in Shelbyville to Jack
6Adrian and D. Kathryn (Alday) Phegley on April 10, 1957; he
7graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1975 and earned an
8associate's degree in criminal justice from Lake Land College;
9he served in the U.S. Army; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley dedicated 28 years to the Illinois
11State Police and had a career of integrity and commitment; he
12also served as a Shelby County deputy sheriff, chief deputy
13coroner for eight years, and coroner for four years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was a valued member of the
15Lockart-Green Funeral Homes team for over 25 years; he was a
16member of Windsor Christian Church, Altamont Masonic Lodge
17#533, and the Shelbyville Horseshoe Club; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley's zest for life was evident in his
19wide array of interests; he enjoyed pickleball, beekeeping,
20pitching horseshoes, and tending to his hobby farm; he was a
21skilled hunter, camper, and fisherman; he loyally supported

1the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks; he was a
2licensed pilot and certified scuba diver; his love for Lake
3Shelbyville was well known, as were his fishing trips to
4Ontario and the Great Lakes; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was preceded in death by his
6parents; his brother, Jack Phegley; and his brother-in-law,
7Mike Maretti; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley is survived by his son, Brent
9Phegley; his sister, Debbie Maretti; his significant other,
10Michelle "Shellie" Weber; his sister-in-law, Barb Phegley; his
11grandchildren, Kaylee (Austin) Binnion and Jack Phegley; his
12nieces and nephews, Jason (Carrie) Maretti, Krista (Ryan)
13Hendrix, Lori Ruot, and Angela (Greg) Crowe; his great-nieces
14and great-nephews, Haley, Emily, Kelsey, Kyle, Emma, Chase,
15Trey, Ryan, Kathryn, and Sophie; and many friends who were
16like family to him; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Bradley L. "Brad" Phegley and extend our sincere condolences
20to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
21it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
