| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Bradley L. "Brad" Phegley, who passed |
| 4 | | away on December 6, 2024; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was born in Shelbyville to Jack |
| 6 | | Adrian and D. Kathryn (Alday) Phegley on April 10, 1957; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1975 and earned an |
| 8 | | associate's degree in criminal justice from Lake Land College; |
| 9 | | he served in the U.S. Army; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Brad Phegley dedicated 28 years to the Illinois |
| 11 | | State Police and had a career of integrity and commitment; he |
| 12 | | also served as a Shelby County deputy sheriff, chief deputy |
| 13 | | coroner for eight years, and coroner for four years; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was a valued member of the |
| 15 | | Lockart-Green Funeral Homes team for over 25 years; he was a |
| 16 | | member of Windsor Christian Church, Altamont Masonic Lodge |
| 17 | | #533, and the Shelbyville Horseshoe Club; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Brad Phegley's zest for life was evident in his |
| 19 | | wide array of interests; he enjoyed pickleball, beekeeping, |
| 20 | | pitching horseshoes, and tending to his hobby farm; he was a |
| 21 | | skilled hunter, camper, and fisherman; he loyally supported |

| 1 | | the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks; he was a |
| 2 | | licensed pilot and certified scuba diver; his love for Lake |
| 3 | | Shelbyville was well known, as were his fishing trips to |
| 4 | | Ontario and the Great Lakes; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was preceded in death by his |
| 6 | | parents; his brother, Jack Phegley; and his brother-in-law, |
| 7 | | Mike Maretti; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Brad Phegley is survived by his son, Brent |
| 9 | | Phegley; his sister, Debbie Maretti; his significant other, |
| 10 | | Michelle "Shellie" Weber; his sister-in-law, Barb Phegley; his |
| 11 | | grandchildren, Kaylee (Austin) Binnion and Jack Phegley; his |
| 12 | | nieces and nephews, Jason (Carrie) Maretti, Krista (Ryan) |
| 13 | | Hendrix, Lori Ruot, and Angela (Greg) Crowe; his great-nieces |
| 14 | | and great-nephews, Haley, Emily, Kelsey, Kyle, Emma, Chase, |
| 15 | | Trey, Ryan, Kathryn, and Sophie; and many friends who were |
| 16 | | like family to him; therefore, be it

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 19 | | Bradley L. "Brad" Phegley and extend our sincere condolences |
| 20 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 21 | | it further
