SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas E. Yarrington, who passed away
4on December 7, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Yarrington was born to Emily Bass and
6Thomas Yarrington in Newellton, Louisiana on May 10, 1932; he
7received his formal education from Tensas Rosenwald High
8School and attended Grambling University for two years before
9being drafted into the United States Army, where he served
10from 1954 to 1956; he married Marie Stanton in 1957; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Thomas Yarrington was a hardworking man and
12worked in many occupations, often holding several positions at
13once; he worked for a number of different companies, including
14The Campbell Soup Co., Sears Roebuck & Co., CHA Security, The
15Red Carpet Carwash, and many more; he retired from The
16Campbell Soup Co. in 1988 after 35 years of service; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Thomas Yarrington was affectionately known as
18"Sonny Boy" and "The Golden Eagle"; he loved and cherished his
19family; he had a heart of gold, a great sense of style, and a
20great sense of humor; he enjoyed traveling, spending time with
21friends and family, and taking care of his birds; and

1    WHEREAS, Thomas Yarrington was baptized at Magnolia
2Baptist Church at a young age; he continued his spiritual
3journey at Calvary Baptist Church in Glenwood, where he
4remained a loyal member; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Yarrington was preceded in death by his
6wife, Marie; his parents; and his brothers, Clyde and Vernon
7Yarrington; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thomas Yarrington is survived by his daughters,
9Cynthia (Milton) Yarrington-Bell, Thomasa Yarrington, and
10Monette Yarrington; his grandchildren, Toni Yarrington, Thomas
11A. Yarrington, and Artesha A. Clayton; his
12great-grandchildren, Thomas A. Yarrington Jr., Talor
13Yarrington, and Treasure Yarrington; his special daughters,
14Brenda (Paul) Ammonette, Coleen (Darryl) Johnson, Rhonda
15Brown, and Constance Henry; his siblings, Ollie Calep
16(Charles), Wallace (Anita), Odessa Yarrington, and Hurdist
17(Dorothy); and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Thomas E. Yarrington and extend our sincere condolences to his
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
