SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John Steven "Steve" Kimbro of Nokomis,
4who passed away on November 17, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro was born in Hillsboro to John Robert
6and Marian Louise (Worker) Kimbro on June 27, 1955; he married
7Susan G. Wollerman in Ramsey on September 1, 1979; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro was a teacher and basketball coach
9at Nokomis High School, from which he graduated in 1973; he
10retired in 2020 after 39 seasons, amassing a record of 838 wins
11and 308 losses, making him fifth on the all-time Illinois high
12school basketball coach win list; he had four teams appear at
13the state tournament, second place finishes in 1983, 1997, and
142008 and a third place finish in 2013; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro was inducted into the Illinois
16Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro taught woodworking and building
18trades; he enjoyed carpentry, refurbishing tools, and fishing;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro was preceded in death by his father,

1John Robert Kimbro; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro is survived by his wife, Susan; his
3daughter, Casey Kimbro; his sons, Wade and Lucas (Caroline)
4Kimbro; his grandchildren, Kaylee and Claire Kimbro; his
5mother, Marian Kimbro; and his brothers, Jim, Bryan (Lori),
6and Jeff (Shellie) Kimbro; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9John Steven "Steve" Kimbro and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Steve Kimbro as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
