SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marilyn Ann McGuire, who passed away
4on July 4, 2024, at the age of 95; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was born to Dorothy and Harold
6Mannell on September 17, 1928; she was raised in Lockport and
7Joliet, where she graduated from Sacred Heart School and St.
8Francis Academy; she later attended the College of St.
9Francis; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire married Paul E. McGuire on
11November 24, 1951; they were married for 29 years and raised
12six children on Westshire Drive and Oneida Street; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire worked at Joseph Kirincich's law
14firm for 14 years before becoming the associate director of
15development at Joliet Catholic High School; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was an active member of the
17Joliet Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, the St. Paul the
18Apostle School Board, the St. Francis Academy and Joliet
19Catholic High School parent organizations, and the Notre Dame
20Club of Joliet; and

1    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire enjoyed cheering on Joliet
2Catholic Academy and Notre Dame; she also enjoyed cooking and
3baking for her family, playing Scrabble, voting for those she
4knew to be "good people", and supporting her son, Senator Pat
5McGuire, and his political aspirations; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was known for her intelligence,
7determination, and being intolerant of what she knew to be
8"phony baloney"; she was regarded as a helpful neighbor and a
9favorite of her children's friends; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was preceded in death by her
11parents; her husband; and her brother, Jim Mannell; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire is survived by her children, Pat
13(Lora), Peggy, Terry, Muffy, Eileen (Thom), and Marty (Deza);
1410 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Jack
15Mannell and Kay Corrigan; her sister-in-law, Judy McGuire; and
16numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Marilyn Ann McGuire and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
