2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Marilyn Ann McGuire, who passed away |
4 | | on July 4, 2024, at the age of 95; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was born to Dorothy and Harold |
6 | | Mannell on September 17, 1928; she was raised in Lockport and |
7 | | Joliet, where she graduated from Sacred Heart School and St. |
8 | | Francis Academy; she later attended the College of St. |
9 | | Francis; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire married Paul E. McGuire on |
11 | | November 24, 1951; they were married for 29 years and raised |
12 | | six children on Westshire Drive and Oneida Street; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire worked at Joseph Kirincich's law |
14 | | firm for 14 years before becoming the associate director of |
15 | | development at Joliet Catholic High School; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was an active member of the |
17 | | Joliet Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, the St. Paul the |
18 | | Apostle School Board, the St. Francis Academy and Joliet |
19 | | Catholic High School parent organizations, and the Notre Dame |
20 | | Club of Joliet; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire enjoyed cheering on Joliet |
2 | | Catholic Academy and Notre Dame; she also enjoyed cooking and |
3 | | baking for her family, playing Scrabble, voting for those she |
4 | | knew to be "good people", and supporting her son, Senator Pat |
5 | | McGuire, and his political aspirations; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was known for her intelligence, |
7 | | determination, and being intolerant of what she knew to be |
8 | | "phony baloney"; she was regarded as a helpful neighbor and a |
9 | | favorite of her children's friends; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was preceded in death by her |
11 | | parents; her husband; and her brother, Jim Mannell; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire is survived by her children, Pat |
13 | | (Lora), Peggy, Terry, Muffy, Eileen (Thom), and Marty (Deza); |
14 | | 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Jack |
15 | | Mannell and Kay Corrigan; her sister-in-law, Judy McGuire; and |
16 | | numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it |
17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | Marilyn Ann McGuire and extend our sincere condolences to her |
20 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
21 | | further |
