HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of George
4Thanos Demos, who passed away on November 21, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Demos, the son of Vasiliki (Bouloukos) and
6Thanos Demos, was born on May 12, 1948; he was a star
7basketball player at Sullivan High School and played
8collegiate basketball for the University of Illinois Chicago
9and the University of Montana-Missoula; and
 
10    WHEREAS, George Demos played professional basketball in
11Greece after college, and he also served as a collegiate
12basketball referee for many years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, George Demos was a former board member of the
14National Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament; and
 
15    WHEREAS, George Demos was named to several halls of fame,
16including the Basketball Museum of Illinois, the Illinois
17Basketball Coaches Association, the Chicago Public League
18Basketball Coaches Association, the University of Illinois
19Chicago, the University of Montana-Missoula, and the National
20Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament; and

1    WHEREAS, George Demos will be remembered for his kind and
2generous spirit; and
 
3    WHEREAS, George Demos was preceded in death by his
4parents; his brother, Peter Demos; his mother-in-law, Loretta
5Pruzaniec; and his brother-in-law, Drew Pruzaniec; and
 
6    WHEREAS, George Demos was the husband of Bonnie
7(Pruzaniec) Demos; the father of Tom Demos and Nicole
8(Lawrence) Trotter; the grandfather of Kennedy, Lawrence, and
9Madison Trotter; the brother of Paul (Gina) Demos; the
10brother-in-law of Jill (Dan) Szuszwalak; the uncle of
11Christina (Josh) Pickett; the great-uncle of Emma Pickett and
12Jonathan Pickett; and a friend to many; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of George Thanos Demos and extend our
16sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
17and loved him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of George Demos as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
