Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Provides that the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation may restore the medical license of an individual whose licensed was revoked due to medical billing mistakes as long as the licensee is no longer handling billing and is not an individual provider.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 43 as follows:
|
6 | | (225 ILCS 60/43) (from Ch. 111, par. 4400-43)
|
7 | | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2027)
|
8 | | Sec. 43. Restoration of license from discipline. At any |
9 | | time after the successful completion of a term of probation, |
10 | | suspension, or revocation of a license, the Department may |
11 | | restore the license to the licensee, unless after an |
12 | | investigation and a hearing, the Secretary determines that |
13 | | restoration is not in the public interest. No person or entity |
14 | | whose license or permit has been revoked as authorized in this |
15 | | Act may apply for restoration of that license or permit until |
16 | | such time as provided for in the Civil Administrative Code of |
17 | | Illinois.
