2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Stephen Neal "Steve" Doran, who passed |
4 | | away on December 3, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Steve Doran was born in Fairbury to Bob and |
6 | | Phyliss Doran in 1957; he was affectionately known as "Dinky" |
7 | | in elementary school and attended University High School, where |
8 | | he played baseball, basketball, and football; he attended |
9 | | Illinois Wesleyan University, where he studied biology; he |
10 | | married Joy Wainscott in 1979 and attended the SIU School of |
11 | | Dental Medicine in Alton; he completed his oral surgery |
12 | | residency program at Cook County Hospital; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Steve Doran and his family briefly lived in West |
14 | | Virginia before he opened his oral surgery practice in |
15 | | Bloomington; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, In 2013, Steve Doran went on his first medical |
17 | | mission trip to Haiti to provide free oral surgery care; |
18 | | serving Haitian communities immediately became his life's |
19 | | passion; he also gave back to central Illinois by starting free |
20 | | oral surgery clinics in Bloomington-Normal, which served |
21 | | thousands of patients over the years; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Steve Doran supported IWU his entire life; he |
2 | | enjoyed spending time with his family, music, rescue animals, |
3 | | sports, attending horse races, cheering for the Cubs and |
4 | | Blackhawks, and holiday celebrations; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Steve Doran was preceded in death by his father, |
6 | | Bob; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Steve Doran is survived by his wife of nearly 40 |
8 | | years, Joy; his daughters, Molly, Flynn, and Anna; his |
9 | | sons-in-law, Andrew and Javonni; his grandsons, Isaac and |
10 | | Oliver; his mother, Phyliss; his sisters, Sandy (Tim) and |
11 | | Lynne; many nephews and nieces; and numerous family members and |
12 | | friends; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Stephen Neal Doran and extend our sincere condolences to his |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Steve Doran as an expression of our |
20 | | deepest sympathy.
