2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Barbara L. Wyman, who passed away on |
4 | | September 11, 2018 at the age of 90; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman was born in Detroit, Michigan to |
6 | | Bernard and Phyllis Kuhn on July 13, 1928; she was raised with |
7 | | four brothers and one sister; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman and her family moved to Oak Park in |
9 | | 1964, where they became dedicated members of Ascension Parish |
10 | | and the Oak Park community; she was a woman of deep faith who |
11 | | dedicated her life to different ministries and causes and |
12 | | believed in creating a more just and peaceful world; an |
13 | | advocate of social justice, she was an early champion of the |
14 | | Christian Family Movement and the PADS Program, now Housing |
15 | | Forward; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman believed her most important role was |
17 | | as a parent; she was known for her welcoming friendship, gentle |
18 | | strength, and lovely smile; additionally, she was a strong |
19 | | advocate for all children, including those needing a loving |
20 | | home; many of those children lived with the Wyman family at |
21 | | times; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman fought through 15 years of |
2 | | Alzheimer's disease and found her greatest joy in her husband, |
3 | | Doug, the love of her life; together, they created an |
4 | | extraordinary example of the power of unconditional love; she |
5 | | and her family were deeply grateful for the skilled and |
6 | | dedicated caregivers who accompanied her throughout this |
7 | | journey; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman was preceded in death by her |
9 | | parents; her brothers, Bernard and John Kuhn; and her sister, |
10 | | Kay Kuhn; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman is survived by her loving husband, |
12 | | Doug; her children, David (Danita), Larry (the late Laura), |
13 | | Mark, Jim (Joy), Mary (Bruce Corson), Ann (Dale Amtower), Joe |
14 | | (Katy), John, and Gerald (Krista) Wyman; her brothers, Leo |
15 | | (Marlene) and George (Betty) Kuhn; and her sister-in-law, Elide |
16 | | Kuhn; her grandchildren, Melissa, Alisha, Amanda, Chris, |
17 | | Dylan, Nick, Samantha, Daniel, Kathleen, Mila, Tesla, Terry, |
18 | | Sophie, and Paul; her 14 great-grandchildren; and her nieces, |
19 | | nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren, and |
20 | | friends; therefore, be it
