| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Joseph W. "Joe" Barth of Bloomington, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on June 18, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joe Barth was born in Winfield to John D. Sr. and | ||||||
6 | Dorothy Baum Barth on August 15, 1940; he grew up in | ||||||
7 | Bloomington and graduated from Trinity High School in 1958; he | ||||||
8 | then graduated from Illinois State University; he married | ||||||
9 | Sandra Johnson in Bloomington on June 14, 1969; he proudly | ||||||
10 | served in the National Guard from 1963 until 1969; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Joe Barth began his teaching career at Trinity | ||||||
12 | High School and later taught at Central Catholic High School, | ||||||
13 | where he also coached for over 19 years; he was a professional | ||||||
14 | photographer and photographed weddings and sports teams; he | ||||||
15 | also served as an IHSA and ASA umpire for softball; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Joe Barth volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy | ||||||
17 | Association, where he coordinated the pledge center; he was | ||||||
18 | active in the Cursillo Community and in the Bloomington Moose | ||||||
19 | Lodge, where he held several offices, including governor; he | ||||||
20 | was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church; he was a loving | ||||||
21 | father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his | ||||||
22 | grandchildren; and

1 | WHEREAS, Joe Barth was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
2 | his brothers, John D. Barth Jr. and Paul Barth; his sister, | ||||||
3 | Barbara Crabtree; his infant sister, Hannah Barth; his | ||||||
4 | brother-in-law, Wes Pettit; and his sister-in-law, Mary Jane | ||||||
5 | Barth; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Joe Barth is survived by his wife, Sandra; his | ||||||
7 | children, Joseph G. "Jay" (Tara) Barth, Jeff D. Barth, and Judy | ||||||
8 | E. (Michael) Riggs; his grandchildren, Emma, Jill, Krista, and | ||||||
9 | Alex Barth and Jackson Riggs; his brothers, Charles Barth, | ||||||
10 | Michael (Alice) Barth, and William (Lynn) Barth; his sister, | ||||||
11 | Elizabeth "Betty" Pettit; and his sister-in-law, Marcia Baum; | ||||||
12 | therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Joseph W. "Joe" Barth and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
16 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Joe Barth as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
