| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Joyce E. Fisher of Wonder Lake, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 6, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher was born in Chicago to Allen J. and |
| 6 | | Inez R. (Samppala) Schimke on February 13, 1942; her family |
| 7 | | moved to Wonder Lake in 1947, and she graduated from McHenry |
| 8 | | High School in 1959; she attended Northern Illinois University |
| 9 | | from 1959 to 1960 and graduated from the Art Institute of |
| 10 | | Chicago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1963; she married |
| 11 | | Edward Michael Fisher in 1966, and they resided in Germany from |
| 12 | | 1968 to 1969 while he was stationed there; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, In 1974, Joyce Fisher opened an antique shop, The |
| 14 | | Peasant Patch in Ridgefield; she moved to Woodstock in 1976 and |
| 15 | | started a decorative quilted pillow business also called The |
| 16 | | Peasant Patch; in 1989, she started work at the Pioneer Center |
| 17 | | of McHenry County as a case manager for adults with |
| 18 | | developmental disabilities; she joined Options & Advocacy for |
| 19 | | McHenry County in 2002, where she worked until her retirement |
| 20 | | in December of 2017; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, While in Woodstock, Joyce Fisher attended the |
| 22 | | Woodstock Congregational Unitarian Universalist Church, and |
|

| 1 | | she often donated her sewing skills to school plays, dance |
| 2 | | recitals, and community theater performances; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher exhibited at regional and national |
| 4 | | gift and craft shows, including Lambs Farm Craft Fair and Fair |
| 5 | | Diddley on the historic Woodstock Square; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher loved cats and enjoyed games, |
| 7 | | interior decorating, the theater, classical music, gardening, |
| 8 | | travel, antiquing, the fine arts, and cooking; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher was preceded in death by her parents; |
| 10 | | her former husband, Edward; her granddaughter, Charlotte |
| 11 | | Salnave; and her great-nephew, Lennox Broderick; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher is survived by her daughter, Johanna |
| 13 | | Fisher (Erick Salnave); her sister, Janet (Mitchell) Ringer; |
| 14 | | her brother, Phil (Penni) Schimke; her cousin-in-law, Leonard |
| 15 | | (Anita) Fisher; her nieces and nephews, Courtney (Stephen) |
| 16 | | Doninger, Cara (Patrick) Broderick, Corinne (Greg) Regnier, |
| 17 | | Calene (Ken) Kieffer, Nathaniel Ringer, Bartholomew Ringer, |
| 18 | | Carin (Dave) Marney, Allison Steurtze, Sharon Alexander, |
| 19 | | Heather (Ted) Tamburo, and Hali (Jason) Larson-Blair; and many |
| 20 | | great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
|
| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |

| 1 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 2 | | Joyce E. Fisher, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 3 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |

| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 6 | | presented to the family of Joyce Fisher as an expression of our |
| 7 | | deepest sympathy.
