2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Stephen Wayne "Steve" Manker of |
4 | | Pittsfield, who passed away on March 23, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Steve Manker was born in Pittsfield to James R. |
6 | | and Connie J. Lawson Manker on November 1, 1971; he graduated |
7 | | from Griggsville High School in 1989, where he was active in |
8 | | the FFA, serving as a section officer; he went on to attend |
9 | | John Wood Community College for two years, serving on the board |
10 | | as a student trustee; he married Susan Hudelson in Pittsfield |
11 | | on June 3, 2011; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Steve Manker stayed to work at John Wood College |
13 | | as a maintenance man; he worked several other jobs in the |
14 | | Quincy area before joining County Market in Pittsfield; he |
15 | | began his career at Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) |
16 | | in 1995; he started out as an officer and became a maintenance |
17 | | craftsman; he resigned from IDOC in July of 2016 after 21 |
18 | | years; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Steve Manker actively supported the Republican |
20 | | Party and served as Village of Detroit (Illinois) President; |
21 | | and

1 | | WHEREAS, Steve Manker enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock |
2 | | hunting, metal detecting, pool, crossword puzzles, and riding |
3 | | motorcycles with "Sugarmomma"; he was an avid fan of the |
4 | | Chicago Bears and enjoyed being a Papa; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Steve Manker was preceded in death by his |
6 | | grandparents, William and Helen Lawson and Eugene Manker, and |
7 | | his brother, Daryl Brite; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Steve Manker is survived by his wife, Susan; his |
9 | | parents; his children, Wes Manker, Kendra (Justin) Schneider, |
10 | | Kim Manker, Beth Scott, and Hope (Zach Abney) Scott; his |
11 | | grandson, Talen Wayne Wand; his brother, James (Kari) Manker |
12 | | Jr.; his sister, Amy (David) Hill; his grandmother, Mary Nadine |
13 | | Manker; Mary Fleming and Jesse Crook, whom he thought of as his |
14 | | own children; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; |
15 | | therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | Stephen Wayne "Steve" Manker, and extend our sincere |
19 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
20 | | him; and be it further
