SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Robert F. Means of Edwardsville, who 
4passed away on March 10, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Means was born in Nameoki to George and 
6Hilda (Schmidt) Means on November 11, 1928; he married Donna J. 
7Wright in Pocahontas, Arkansas on October 14, 1949; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Means served United Steel Workers 
9Association Local 4804 as Vice President and President; he then 
10joined the staff of Steel Workers International and served all 
11of the United Steel Workers Local Unions in Southern Illinois; 
12he retired from United Steelworkers International as the 
13Assistant to Vice President George Becker; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Means was a member Eden United Christian 
15Church, where he was also a past President of the Men's 
16Brotherhood; he was a member of S.O.A.R., Chairman of the 
17Sheriff's Merit Committee, and a Troop Leader for the Boy 
18Scouts of America; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Means was preceded in death by his parents; 
20his brother, Charles Means; and his sister, Margaret Thomas;

1    WHEREAS, Robert Means is survived by his wife, Donna; his 
2sons, Robert (Lois) Means, Richard (Gena) Means, and Randy 
3(Melanie) Means; his grandchildren, Aaron (Monica) Means, 
4Katie (Shane) Foster, and Jacob Means; his 
5great-grandchildren, Zoe, Lyla, and Parker Means and Annabel 
6and Sawyer Foster; and his nephew, Daniel (Sherrie) Thomas; 
7therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
10Robert F. Means and extend our sincere condolences to his 
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
12further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the family of Robert Means as an expression of our 
15deepest sympathy.
