SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Henry "Hank" V. Hemmingsen of Union, who 
4passed away on December 2, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was born in Glen Ellyn to Niels 
6and Magda (Jessen) Hemmingsen on May 14, 1927; he graduated 
7from Marengo Community High School; he married Marion E. Gahl 
8in Union on October 18, 1947; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was a proud dairy farmer for 50 
10years; he served on the local elementary school board of 
11education, was a trustee for the fire department, and Farm 
12Bureau board member; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was a member of the Union St. 
14John's United Church of Christ; he was inducted into the 
15Marengo Community High School Hall of Fame in 2013; the Farm 
16Bureau honored him by naming his farm's local rural road after 
17his family's namesake; he was an avid fan of the Green Bay 
18Packers; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was preceded in death by his 
20parents; his six brothers; and a grandson; and

1    WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen is survived by his wife of 70 
2years, Marion; his children, Douglas (Linda) Hemmingsen, 
3Brenda (Dale) Moehling, Adele (Steven) Weskerna, and Richard 
4(Sharon) Hemmingsen; his twelve grandchildren; and his twenty 
5great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Henry "Hank" V. Hemmingsen and extend our sincere condolences 
9to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
10it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Hank Hemmingsen as an expression of 
13our deepest sympathy.
