2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Mike Shea of Pekin, who passed away on |
4 | | October 8, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shea was born in Peoria to James D. and Ruth |
6 | | A. Marchino Shea on July 19, 1940; he married Trudy Ann Durbin |
7 | | in Pekin on October 12, 1963; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shea served in the United States Air Force |
9 | | National Guard and worked for Evonik Goldschmidt Corporation, |
10 | | from which he retired; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shea was a member of St. Joseph Catholic |
12 | | Church in Pekin; he was active in the Knights of Columbus, |
13 | | Cursillo, the We Are the Church spiritual renewal program, and |
14 | | the Prison Ministry; he was a basketball coach at St. Joseph |
15 | | Catholic School and a Committee Representative for the United |
16 | | Steel Workers; he was a foster parent to over 300 children; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shea was an avid Cardinals fan; he was a |
18 | | devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend; he was his |
19 | | grandchildren's biggest fan; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shea was preceded in death by his parents; |

1 | | his wife, Trudy; his son, Dennis Shea; his granddaughter, |
2 | | Carolyn Jane Shea; his sister, Delia Ryan; and his brother, |
3 | | James Shea; and

4 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shea is survived by his daughter, Denise |
5 | | Goessman; his grandchildren, Alli (Ryan) McClanahan, Natalie |
6 | | Shea, Shea Goessman, William Shea, Elizabeth Shea, and Addison |
7 | | Goessman; his sisters, Mary (Robert) Gover, Ann (Robert) |
8 | | Hickey, Pat (Jay) Bednar, and Fran (Joe) Crusen; his brothers, |
9 | | John (Pat) Shea M.D., Tom (Ann) Shea, Tim (Mary) Shea, and Pete |
10 | | Shea; his brother-in-law, Jack Ryan; his sister-in-law, Cathy |
11 | | Shea; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Shea; his many nieces and |
12 | | nephews; his companion, Brenda Simon; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Mike Shea an extend our sincere condolences to his family, |
16 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
