2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mario Augusto Estrada, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | August 9, 2017 after a noble struggle against cancer; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was born in Chicago to Miguel and | ||||||
6 | Lilian Estrada on May 28, 1971; he spent all of his life in, | ||||||
7 | and was a proud resident of, the southeast side of Chicago, | ||||||
8 | where he attended George Washington High School; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mario Estrada worked in the trucking industry for | ||||||
10 | the majority of his life, eventually becoming an | ||||||
11 | owner/operator; he had a passion for the trucking industry and | ||||||
12 | his work, both of which became second nature to him; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was known as an incredibly | ||||||
14 | hard-working and reliable man; his priority was his family and | ||||||
15 | his greatest passion was caring for his children; whatever they | ||||||
16 | needed came first and he put all of his heart into making a | ||||||
17 | loving and caring life for them; it was his greatest desire to | ||||||
18 | see them strive and succeed; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was affectionately known as "Papa | ||||||
20 | Bear", and like a bear, he was recognized as a protector who | ||||||
21 | symbolized courage, physical strength, and leadership; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was also noted for having a | ||||||
2 | wonderful sense of humor; he got along with everyone he met and | ||||||
3 | knew how to put a smile on people's faces with his unique laugh | ||||||
4 | and his many jokes; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was passionate about cars; he had | ||||||
6 | collections of both model cars and actual automobiles; he took | ||||||
7 | great pleasure in being able to fix and restore one of his | ||||||
8 | favorites to his exacting standards; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, In 2016, Mario Estrada was diagnosed with cancer | ||||||
10 | and underwent surgery; he began donating regularly to the St. | ||||||
11 | Jude's Children's Research Hospital as a way to make a | ||||||
12 | difference; he did not want children to suffer as badly as he | ||||||
13 | had; and

14 | WHEREAS, Mario Estrada is survived by his wife, Liliana | ||||||
15 | Guevara Estrada; his children, Mario Augusto Estrada Jr., | ||||||
16 | Lizbeth Lilian Estrada, Mario Alejandro Estrada, and Julian | ||||||
17 | Augusto Estrada; his parents; his siblings, Mayra Estrada, | ||||||
18 | Ingrid Izurieta, Marielcy Romero, Claudia Harvey, Susan | ||||||
19 | Estrada, Miguel Estrada, and Carla Wenger; and numerous friends | ||||||
20 | and family; therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
2 | Mario Augusto Estrada, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
3 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
4 | further
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Mario Estrada as an expression of | ||||||
7 | our deepest sympathy.
