2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Hans Chrestian Petersen of McHenry, who |
4 | | passed away on May 3, 2017; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was born to Bennet and Martha |
6 | | (Nielsen) Petersen on November 29, 1923 and raised on a dairy |
7 | | farm in Wisconsin; he served in the United States Army Air |
8 | | Force during World War II and moved to Chicago where he met his |
9 | | wife, Nancy; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was hardworking, having two |
11 | | careers; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was known as a quiet, gentle giant; |
13 | | there was not a person who met him that did not like him; he was |
14 | | a "champion whistler", often whistling to the tune of "Sweet |
15 | | Georgia Brown"; he enjoyed listening to HAM Radio, fishing, |
16 | | gardening, and racing; he will be remembered as everyone's |
17 | | friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was preceded in death by his |
19 | | parents; his loving wife, Nancy; his siblings, James and |
20 | | Marion; and his granddaughter, Megan; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Hans Petersen is survived by his children, Bennet |
2 | | (Nancy) Petersen, Bryan Petersen, and Shari (Alan Gegenheimer) |
3 | | Olk; his grandchildren, Carey (Justin) Runyard, Lindsay (Guy) |
4 | | Porth, Aimee (Jason) Landini, Alexander (Amy) Petersen, Troy |
5 | | (Kim) Petersen, Jennifer (Chad) Chorney, Gregory Petersen, |
6 | | Bennet Petersen, Katlyn (James) Ceplawskes, and Ashley Olk; his |
7 | | great-grandchildren, Austin, Nathan, Hannah, Violet, Lane, |
8 | | Sullivan, Alexis, Ethan, Owen, Emilee, Aksel, Haylie, Hayden, |
9 | | Aaron, Kaitlyn, MacKenzie, Azure, Ana, Aydin, and Leila; and |
10 | | his sister, Else Petersen; therefore, be it |
11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
13 | | Hans Chrestian Petersen, and extend our sincere condolences to |
14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
15 | | further |
16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Hans Petersen as an expression of |
18 | | our deepest sympathy.
