SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jeannette M. McCullough of Harvard, who passed away on April 7, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was born to Claude and Myrtle (Pihl) Pagles on May 21, 1928 and attended Dunham Township schools; in 1945, she became the first runner-up for the Milk Day Queen; she graduated from Harvard High School in 1946 and attended the National 4H Club Congress, where she won a four-year scholarship to the University of Illinois; she married Maynard A. McCullough at Trinity Lutheran Church on June 8, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was a homemaker; she was a leader of the Dunham Girls, the Green and White Pom-Poms, and the Dunham B-Sharps 4H Clubs; she won the National Grange Baking Contest in 1961 with her onion dinner rolls and was featured in the Chicago Tribune for her mincemeat pie; she was the McHenry County Farm Woman of the Year in 1981 and received many cooking and sewing awards; she and her husband welcomed many exchange students into their home; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was a member of the Harvard Retired Ladies, the Capron American Legion Auxiliary, and Capron, Harvard, and Illinois State Granges; she was a member of the Heartland Sewing Club, the Women of the Moose and Golden Agers, the Coffee Kluch, the Farmer's Fellowship, the West Dunham Homemakers Extension, and the Harvard Historical Society; she was an Officer and Pink Lady for the Harvard Hospital Auxiliary, and served on the McHenry County Fair Board; she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 86 years, where she sang in the choir and served in the Lydia Circle of WELCA; she was involved in all of the activities of her children and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maynard; her brother, Orville Pagles; her sisters, Ruth (Howard) Walker, and Gertrude (Henry) Sward; her brother-in-law, Richard Brady; her grandson, Kevin James McCullough; her father and mother-in-law, Samuel and Jamima (McClure) McCullough; her sisters-in-law, Jean (Bob) Kieselberg, and Marjorie (Ivan) Snuggs; her brothers-in-law, Donald McCullough, and Anton Stohl; and her nephews, Steven Sward, and Gary Kieselberg; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough is survived by her children, John "Jack" (Pat) McCullough, Patricia (Ray) Jones, James (Laurie) McCullough, Mary Jo (Richard) Olson, and Michael (Marcy) McCullough; her grandchildren, Shaun (Cole) McCullough, Lori (Chris) Dunn, Joel McCullough, Tammy McCullough, Jonathan McCullough (Emily Holmes), Gayle (Jason) Kruckenberg, Ray (Laura) Jones, Phillip (Amber) Jones, Jeannelle Jones (Jim Hardyman), Jody (Eric) Makos, Shane (Abby) McCullough, Kurt McCullough, Erica (Bob) McFall, Trevor (Lindsey) Olson, Annica (Nathan) Hulstedt, Chris (Kathie) McCullough, Mark (Amy) McCullough, David (Connie) McCullough, Patrick (Annie) McCullough, and Lea (Steven) Jordan; her great-grandchildren, Tempest, Dominique, Alanna, Jaxson, Graysen, Wyatt, Kassidy, Andrea, Jacob, Abigail, Ryan, Tessa, Maynard, Summer, Georgia, Violet, Pearl, Emily, Aaron, Ellie, Cade, Brady, Rylan, Aubrey, Holden, Josie, Hayden, Delaney, Uriah, Rorie, Rachel, Brian, Luke, Matthew, Josh, Siera, Molly, and Grant; her great-great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Harlow; her sister, Hanna Brady (Bob Wittmus); her sisters-in-law, Delores Hobbs, Priscilla (Allan) Peters, Shirley (Jim) Pribble, and Grace McCullough; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeannette M. McCullough, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeannette McCullough as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
