2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Eddie Carter of Rantoul, who passed away |
4 | | on February 19, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Carter was born in Greenville, Georgia to |
6 | | Jenny Mae and Jimmy Lee Bray on December 11, 1949; he married |
7 | | Margurette Brooks on July 24, 1971 and they resided at the |
8 | | Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, In January 1976, Eddie Carter became a member of |
10 | | the Rantoul Police Department; he retired as Deputy Chief in |
11 | | June 2005; he attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia |
12 | | and was honored as Officer of the Year; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Carter was a member of the First United |
14 | | Methodist Church in Rantoul; he was a member of the Kappa Alpha |
15 | | Psi Fraternity, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Community |
16 | | Service Board, the Revolving Loan Committee, Lone Star Lodge |
17 | | No. 18, NOBLE (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement |
18 | | Executives), and the Champaign/Urbana Officials Association; |
19 | | and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Carter is survived by his daughter, LaTonya |
21 | | Carter-Sanders; his grandchildren, Lauryn DeShon Corell |
