2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Larry J. Seaver of Harvard, who passed |
4 | | away on December 12, 2016 at the age of 73; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Seaver was born in Harvard to Charles A. and |
6 | | Beverly J. (Goodsell) Seaver on January 5, 1943; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Larry Seaver was a 1961 graduate of Harvard High |
8 | | School; he worked in tool and die for years at Badger Marine in |
9 | | Harvard; he then began a career designing and making musical |
10 | | instruments at The Getzen Company; while working with Getzen, |
11 | | he designed for and collaborated with legendary musicians like |
12 | | Doc Severinsen, Chicago, The Canadian Brass, Snooky Young, |
13 | | Maynard Ferguson, and Wynton Marsalis; he put his personal |
14 | | touch on musical instruments used by professional and amateur |
15 | | musicians alike; after Getzen, he worked for Schilke Music |
16 | | Products until his retirement; he engineered many parts for |
17 | | instruments that revolutionized the brass industry to this day; |
18 | | after retirement, Larry stayed busy working part-time at |
19 | | Westside Machine and Tool Co. in Elkhorn, Wisconsin; and

20 | | WHEREAS, Larry Seaver was a member of the NRA and the North |
21 | | Bristol Sportsman's Club; he enjoyed going to the shooting |
22 | | range with his children and friends; he was also a gunsmith; he |
