| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Newborn Metabolic Screening Act is amended |
| 5 | | by changing Section 1 as follows:
|

The
The Illinois Department of Public Health shall |
| 8 | | promulgate and
enforce rules and regulations requiring that |
| 9 | | every newborn be subjected
to tests for genetic, metabolic, and |
| 10 | | congenital anomalies as the
Department may deem necessary. The |
| 11 | | Department is
empowered to promulgate such additional rules and |
| 12 | | regulations as are
found necessary for the administration of |
| 13 | | this Act, including mandatory
reporting of the results of all |
| 14 | | tests for these conditions to the
Illinois Department of Public |
| 15 | | Health. |
