Amends the Animal Control Act. Provides that every owner of a cat, that is 4 months or more of age, shall have each cat inoculated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian. Exempts feral cats. Provides that veterinarians who inoculate a cat shall procure from the County Animal Control in the county where their office is located serially numbered tags, one to be issued with each inoculation certificate. Provides that the county board shall cause a rabies inoculation tag to be issued, at a fee established by the county board for each cat inoculated against rabies.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Animal Control Act is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 8 as follows:

by a licensed veterinarian. This provision shall |
10 | | not apply to a feral cat as defined in Section 2.11b of this |
11 | | Act. Every dog or cat shall
have a second rabies vaccination |
12 | | within one year of the first. Terms of
subsequent
vaccine |
13 | | administration and duration of immunity must be in compliance |
14 | | with USDA
licenses of vaccines used. A veterinarian immunizing |
15 | | a dog, cat, or ferret against rabies shall provide the |
16 | | Administrator of the county in which the dog, cat, or ferret |
17 | | resides with a certificate of immunization. Evidence of such |
18 | | rabies
inoculation shall be entered on a certificate the form |
19 | | of which shall be
approved by the Board and which shall contain |
20 | | the microchip number of the dog, cat, or ferret if it has one |
21 | | and which shall be signed by the licensed
veterinarian |
22 | | administering the vaccine. Only one dog, cat, or ferret shall |
