| 1 | | AN ACT concerning General Assembly operations.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended |
| 5 | | by changing Section 3 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (25 ILCS 10/3) (from Ch. 63, par. 23.3)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 3.
|
| 8 | | At the convening of the House of Representatives and the |
| 9 | | Senate of each
General Assembly the Secretary of State and the |
| 10 | | Governor, as required by
the Constitution, shall call the House |
| 11 | | of Representatives and the Senate to
order and shall preside |
| 12 | | until a Speaker and President are chosen and have
taken their |
| 13 | | seats. For the purpose of the organization and operation of the
|
| 14 | | House of Representatives, the rules adopted by and applicable |
| 15 | | to the
regular session of the House of Representatives of the |
| 16 | | preceding General
Assembly, insofar as such rules may be |
| 17 | | applicable, shall prevail and be the
rules governing the House |
| 18 | | of Representatives of the General Assembly then
convened, until |
| 19 | | such rules are changed or new rules adopted. For the purpose of |
| 20 | | the organization and operation of the
Senate, the rules adopted |
| 21 | | by and applicable to the
regular session of the Senate of the |
| 22 | | preceding General
Assembly, insofar as such rules may be |
| 23 | | applicable, shall prevail and be the
rules governing the Senate |
