(c) The Director of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, or |
his or her designee, shall serve as chairperson of the task |
force, and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity |
shall provide technical support and assistance to the task |
force and shall be responsible for administering its operations |
and ensuring that the requirements of this Act are met. |
(d) The task force may consult with any persons or entities |
it deems necessary to carry out its purposes. |
(e) Members of the task force shall be appointed no later |
than 90 days after the effective date of this Act. The members |
of the task force shall receive no compensation for serving as |
members of the task force. |
(f) The task force shall examine: (1) barriers to economic |
opportunity in economically depressed communities; (2) issues |
discouraging local investment and business development; (3) |
local community concerns; and (4) current economic conditions, |
and shall establish a comprehensive economic development |
policy for small, medium, and large businesses. The task force |
shall give members of the public the opportunity to provide |
input during the task force's examinations. |
(g) The task force shall prepare a report summarizing the |
findings of the examinations undertaken pursuant to subsection |
(f) and shall provide recommendations as to whether further |
legislation is needed to address the problems identified by the |
task force. The report shall be submitted to the General |
Assembly on or before January 1, 2017.
