(105 ILCS 5/2-3.47a) Sec. 2-3.47a. Strategic plan. (a) The State Board of Education shall develop and maintain a continuing comprehensive strategic plan for elementary and secondary education. The strategic plan shall address how the State Board of Education will focus its efforts to increase equity in all Illinois schools and shall include, without limitation, all of the following topic areas: (1) Service and support to school districts to improve student performance. (2) Programs to improve equitable and strategic resource allocation in all schools. (3) Efforts to enhance the social-emotional well-being of Illinois students. (4) (Blank). (5) (Blank). (6) (Blank). (7) (Blank). (8) (Blank). (9) (Blank). (10) (Blank). (11) (Blank). (12) (Blank). (13) (Blank). (14) Attraction and retention of diverse and qualified teachers and leaders. (15) (Blank).
The State Board of Education shall consult with the educational community, hold public hearings, and receive input from all interested groups in drafting the strategic plan. (b) To meet the requirements of this Section, the State Board of Education shall issue to the Governor and General Assembly a preliminary report within 6 months after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly and a final 5-year strategic plan within one year after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly. Thereafter, the strategic plan shall be updated and issued to the Governor and General Assembly on or before July 1 of each year.
