SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

60 ILCS 1/85-14

Amends the Township Code. Provides that a township official may not prohibit an organization from receiving township funds based upon the national origin of the person who would receive those funds from the organization. Defines "national origin".

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section 85-14 as follows:

(60 ILCS 1/85-14)

Sec. 85-14. Nondiscriminatory use of township funds.

(a) As used in this Section, "national origin" means the place in which a person or one of the person's ancestors was born.

(b) A township official may not prohibit an organization from receiving township funds based upon the perceived citizenship or immigration status of the person who would receive those funds from the organization.

(c) A township official may not prohibit an organization from receiving township funds based upon the national origin of the person who would receive those funds from the organization.
